CaJohns Fiery Foods got its start in 1996. John Hard, a Fire Protection Engineer by trade, had a passion for hot and spicy food. Fueled by his many business trips to the Gulf Coast and Southwest, he became enamored with fiery hot cuisine. What's more, his wife Sue was raised on the Mississippi Coast, and frequent visits to his in-laws led to many treks to New Orleans, the capital of spicy food. In New Orleans, John would load up on all the ingredients he needed to satisfy his hot and spicy tastes. In 2002, John opened his own manufacturing facility to marry his passion to his career. In mid-2004, John sold his 60-year-old fire protection business to devote himself full-time to his passion - CaJohns Fiery Foods.
The whole family is now involved in the CaJohns specialty food business. All natural and preservative free, their products are carefully prepared in small batches and monitored to ensure a high level of quality and a consistent taste. John demands that only the finest ingredients are to be used. In fact, CaJohns processes his own mash from fresh chiles every fall, as he refuses to use commercial pepper mash that is loaded with salt and preservatives. This is only one of the reasons behind CaJohn's successes at national competitions, where the brand has garnered over 200 international, national and regional awards.
