Along with their conquering armies, the Romans brought their cheese making expertise to England in the first century AD. But it was not until the sixteenth century when the cheese we know today as cheddar was so named. With such a long history, it's no surprise that cheddar is one of the world's favorite foods. So popular in fact, that almost every cheese-producing nation makes its own version. This assortment contains excellent examples from three continents:
  • Denhay Mature English Cheddar: Denhay Cheddar is carefully matured and monitored until it is 11 months old when it is sold as premium West Country Farmhouse Cheddar. (8 oz.)
  • Grafton Classic Reserve Cheddar: Grafton Classic Cheddar is an outstanding mature cheddar cheese selected for its pronounced flavor and smooth finish. This two year aged cheese is excellent when accompanied with dried fruits and nuts, crusty breads, and big wines. (8 oz.)
  • Great Ocean Road Cheddar: This sharp white cheddar hails from Australia, where it is made from pure milk taken from cows that graze on lush pastures swept by winds from the Southern Ocean. (8 oz.)
  • Red Leaf Cheddar: This entrant from North America has a firm texture and a sweet, honeyed flavor. Best enjoyed with ale and fruit, this cheddar is aged for over 12 months. (8 oz.)

Please note that any item temporarily out of stock will be substituted with a similar item of equal value.

Comments about Cheddars of the World Assortment:

Ah, Cheddar. You would think this assortment would be rather boring because it is all one cheese. Well then you'd be very wrong.

Quality was very good. The cheese's came vacuum wrapped with labels indicating each one and country of origin.

Each cheddar in this assortment tastes differently and has a different texture melted, and solid.

They are all very delicious, although I did have some favorites from this assortment which I will note below.

My particular favorite was the Canadian "Red Leaf" cheddar. I felt this had the best flavor and crumbly texture (which i loved!). Then Id have to say the Denhay English cheddar which was very flavorful and everyone seemed to love it around my house. The New Zealand and American cheddar's were good but I found their texture to be a bit off, especially when melted. The American one was particularly complex in my opinion.

I recommend serving plain to get the full flavor experience. They also melt great for sandwich's, egg's, ect.

All-in-all you will be very pleased with this assortment. They were all delicious and enjoyable.

Great cheddar isn't always from Vermont!

Comments about Cheddars of the World Assortment:

These cheeses are the embodiment of the rich buttery goodness and the sharp tang associated with cheddar. You will find it hard to buy cheddar from your local grocery store after sampling these delights from around the world. While Vermont cheddar is the standard to which all others strive (and luckily is included in this package), the silky cheddars from Canada, England and New Zealand give Vermont a run for the money. I loved the combination of cheeses and tasting one region after another. I would order this again.

This was a great start to our chedder tasting club- I enjoyed reading the blurb from the website and giving the girls a variety from different countries to taste. It was great to taste the differences and pick out tastes, textures, smells, etc. Also, it was a good value and was plenty for leftovers!

What a great idea... A presentation of the best cheddar cheeses from around the globe. If I was told by a Doctor that I would have to give up eating cheese or die, I would leave his/her office and head to the funeral home to make my arrangements. Cheddar cheese is a "gift" to mankind and this assortment is a wonderful selection to enjoy and savor...
