The name is a bit corny, but at least it's accurate. Chevrelait, pronounced like the American car company, is the combination of the French words "Chevre" - meaning "goat", and "Lait" - meaning "milk". We discovered this brand new smoked goat's milk cheese while in Holland not too long ago. Similar in looks to Dutch Smoked Gouda, it is a log-shaped cheese with an edible brown rind and a pale white interior. That is where the similarity ends, however, as Chevrelait tastes decidedly "goaty". If you like the taste of traditional chevre, you'll find Chevrelait to be a familiar, yet unique alternative.
  • Made from pasteurized processed goat's milk.
  • Photo depicts whole 4 lb. form of cheese.

Excellent taste. The smoky flavor is subtle, surprising, and delicious. Even after I had frozen it for several months---taste was wonderful. Texture a little brittle due to the freezing. A hit with a wide variety of people who tried it.

I found this product in Texas (1200 miles from my home). My daughter is allergic to cows milk so we drink goats milk. We have tried at least 50 and maybe more different types of goats cheese. This is the first one that does not have that tangy goat taste to it. She eats it all the time, and so will the rest of my family who won't touch the other stuff we have bought!

What a delicious surprise. The smoky flavor is wonderful. It was a bit crumbly in texture, probably because I had frozen it for several months. It was still great and delightful. Gets rave reviews from friends who've tried it.
