In 1884, Max P. Radloff started making cheese in Hustisford, Wisconsin with one small cheese factory that processed 600 pounds of milk per day. By 1928 he was operating 29 different cheese factories in Wisconsin with the help of his sons Roland and Max Jr. Their cheese products were being sold in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York as well. In 1934, in order to reduce freight costs from Wisconsin to Ohio, Max and his son Max Jr. came by train to Minerva to open the family's first facility outside the state of Wisconsin. In 1935, the Minerva Amish Gourmet Cheese Factory opened for business.

Minerva's handmade, white wax, Raw Milk Sharp Cheddar is made personally by master cheese maker Phil Mueller. His specialty "Signature Cheese" bears his signature on each two pound wheel. This aged cheese is a cheese lovers dream! As Phil says while taste testing, "It doesn't get any better then this!". Combining the liveliness of a sharp cheddar with the intensity of a raw milk cheese, Minerva's Signature Cheese is a true connoisseur's choice.
