I have been using Roaring Forties for a couple of years now. The shop I used to get it from closed so I was very happy to find igourmet! This is the best blue cheese for those who like blue and want it to compliment the dish; not overpower it. It is perfect!
Comments about Roaring Forties Blue:
...a great party cheese. The flavor and color are striking, and different from more common blue cheeses, and this makes an impression on guests.
I think I will buy a whole form at some point.
Comments about Roaring Forties Blue:
If you want a very creamy blue this is your cheese. It is not an over powering blue. It is so creamly that you can spread it as well as giving it a good crumble.

Comments about Roaring Forties Blue:
Over several orders of this cheese I have been amazingly impressed with it's truly unique consistency and tangy blue taste. I've also shared it with a number of people that have a similar opinion. It has a bit of an aftertaste, but it's of the blue kind in that it's kind of a mouth watering punch of flavor, not really bitter, or at least not any more so than other strong blues. This is not a mellow cheese by any measure. It's unique character holds up well with other tastes as part of an after dinner snack or before dinner hors d'oeuvre. The cheese is also firm but spreadable, and due to the wax rind, not crumbly like some other cheeses. I would rate it firmer than a Roquefort but less than a harder blue, like Mountain Gorgonzola.
The cheese does not melt well (or at least not at low temperature), so probably is not a good blue for cooking. It works quite well as a snack cheese and is great with a really bold wine accompaniment.

A nice firm cheese; great out of hand, in a salad or on a burger. Can't think of any way I would not like this. Strong, but not overwhelming.
Comments about Roaring Forties Blue:
A blue cheese, not always easy to get known to blue cheese devotees and offered at a fair price

This cheese was very much enjoyed by the blue cheese lovers at our wine and cheese. Not as pungent as many of the other blues it was very smooth and flavorful without the tartness common in other blues.

This is one of our favorite cheeses. When introduced to guests in any dish, it overwhelmingly becomes the focus of interest.

Use for guests before dinner on crackers or as a meal with a salad and fruit such as pears. Wonderful texture. You want more the minute it hits your mouth.

Two things, that's it. Try this cheese with a quality glass of red wine [...]. This is simply the best cheese I have ever had and paired together with wine make it a match made in heaven!! Think of the happiest most loving couple you ever met, that's what this pairing would be. This is something that I won't even share with my friends it is THAT good.
Comments about Roaring Forties Blue:
Best blue cheese. Smooth and flavorful. Good on whole wheat crackers or with toasted, thin-cut French bread. Not much needed to get that burst of delicious blue-cheese taste. My favorite. I bring it to parties and it disappears.
Comments about Roaring Forties Blue:
This is my absolutely favourite cheese. Sharp and delicate in same time. Make sure it is room temperature and enjoy!
Comments about Roaring Forties Blue:
Perhaps my palate is not as sophisticated as some, but I just did not enjoy this. I have tried many blues, this one did not appeal to me at all! Seemed too salty to me, and left a bad aftertaste. I always try a new cheese by itself first, to get a feel for the characteristics of that cheese, and how best to use it based on that. I never got past the "trying" stage, but maybe there are some good uses for it. Will not buy this one again, sorry.

We love this cheese, and will buy it anywhere we can find it! As Blue lovers, this is an incomparable treat with a great glass of red wine!
Comments about Roaring Forties Blue:
This blue-waxed blue is a real discovery. Supple, not overly tangy and easy to spread. The after-taste is sublime...longlasting creaminess & slightly nutty/semi-sweet. Won't burn your tonsils or make your eyes water!
Comments about Roaring Forties Blue:
Wonderfully balanced; not over powering; Better than the French and Italian blues; served to my wine appreciation students; they loved the nutty, crunchy characteristics
