Slovenia lies on the southern slopes of the Alps and touches the Mediterranean. Milk and cheese are traditional to the Slovene diet. Their cuisine has been greatly influenced by the surrounding countries, so making an alpine cheese is no surprise. Our Slovenian Swiss is a cooked pressed cheese that has been heated before pressing. What creates the generous smattering of holes (eyes) in this cheese? They are formed during the aging process, produced by bacteria that give off carbon dioxide, a result of the temperature that the cheese is stored at in proportion of the starter used.

Slovenian Swiss has a pale yellow color with a slight nutty flavor. This swiss-style cheese is good for sandwiches, salads, snacks, and for melting.
