Located in: Cheese, Eastern Europe
The Republic of Lithuania is in Eastern Europe and is bordered by the Baltic Sea, Latvia, Belarus, Poland, and Russia (Kaliningrad). Milk products have been popular since ancient times in Lithuania. Integral to Lithuanian cuisine, it is used to make cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, and butter. Cheese (suris) is the most popular, which can be sour, sweet, or flavored with caraway seed. Today, Lithuania is the 5th largest exporter of cheese in the world and they are now very influenced by Middle European styles of cheese.

Our Lithuanian Havarti is semi-soft and pale yellow with small, irregular holes. Mild, yet tangy, Havarti is a very versatile cheese. Cube for salads and snacks (kids love it!); use in sauces and casseroles; and it is just the right touch melted atop a baked potato.
  • Made from pasteurized cow's milk.
  • Photo depicts whole 2.2 lb. wheel of cheese.

Had this with guests at Thanksgiving both melted over baguette slices that had been lightly coated with EVOO and garlic and then toasted. Very popular!
