Located in: Cheese, England
The only true Wensleydale cheese in the world comes from the milk drawn from cows that graze the sweet limestone pastures on farms in Upper Wensleydale, England. First made there during the Norman invasion, when French monks from the Roquefort region were brought over to practice their cheese-making skills. The Wensleydale pastures give the cheese the unique, refreshing flavor for which it is renowned. The cheese is a fresh, young cheese taken at only three weeks old. It has a clean, mild, slightly sweet flavor with a honeyed aftertaste. The superb texture of fresh Wensleydale is perfectly complemented by the addition of all natural cranberries of the finest quality. Wensleydale with Cranberries is an innovative blend of flavors and a superb visual experience.

Was it frozen?
By jvenskusVerified Reviewer from Du Quoin, IL on 1/14/2008
Cons:
Grainy
Describe Yourself:
Frequent Diner
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Wensleydale with Cranberries:

Not as good as expected. The texture was 'grainy' leading to the question about whether it was frozen in the cold pack. If not, then the product was not creamy and a disappointment.

igourmet Response: The grainy texture is normal for this cheese. It was never frozen.

it wasnt what i was expecting, i didnt taste the honey at all. the suggestions said it was sweet enough to serve as dessert or after dinner, it was not sweet at all to me. i thought i was getting a sweet cheese and i got a tangy sour one. i do not recomend this for any one looking to cure a sweet tooth. also better with crackers than alone.

Comments about Wensleydale with Cranberries:

The flavor of this cheese is okay, but I agree with the other reviewer who said White Stilton with Fruit is much better.

This cheese was rather dry and crumbly, not smooth, and tasted bland and a bit sour. Overall, it lacked flavor.

No matter who comes over, and whether they say they like cheese or not, EVERYONE loves Wensleydale with Cranberries. I have yet to meet a single person who didn't like it. Most people say it's their favorite of any 5 cheeses I put out. Sweet, flavorful, creamy, what's not to love?

I tried this at [...] in October and fell in love with it! They were there on a Roadshow. I went back a week later and grabbed more! They don't have any now, but I wish they did! Perfect for the holidays too!

White Stilton with Fruit is Better

Cons:
Bad Flavor

Comments about Wensleydale with Cranberries:

White Stilton with Fruit is better and it comes in about ten different varieties, including cranberry. The cheese in this has a sour milk flavor and is grainy.

This was a treat. The cheese is creamy and relatively mild, while the cranberries give it a bit of tang. Enjoyed with fruit and crackers.
