Located in: Cheese, England
Cornish County Larder has been a family run business since 1997. They selected North Bradon Farm to create their fantastic hard cheeses while they make their soft cheeses in Trevarrian off the North Cornwall coast. A beautiful old farmhouse over-looks North Bradon Farm, which is situated in Somerset, England, amidst rich and lustrous pastures. The farm buildings house Cornish County Larder's state of the art hard cheese making facility. Local dairy farms supply cow and goat's milk which they use to create their award winning range of farmhouse cheeses, butters and bottled milk.

Their Farmhouse Cheddar is handmade on the farm. They follow a traditional recipe and their graders select only the finest cheeses to develop into their mature range. The results are deliciously tangy and full-bodied cheddar cheeses that develop a fruity and complex flavor that sets them apart from other cheeses. Matured for a minimum of 14 months, this traditional farmhouse cheddar won the 2005 Gold Medal at the World Cheese Awards..

Everyone in the family loved it. This cheddar has a great flavor and texture. My wife loved it so much she nearly ate all of it before the rest of us had an opportunity to have some. Even the dogs were crazy about this cheese.

Comments about Cornish County Larder Farmhouse Cheddar (Purple Wax):

Just to make things clear, I love cheddar. And as far as cheddar goes, it doesn't get any better than this. The complex flavor of this aged cheddar cannot be beat. This cheese goes well on top of crackers, but for a real treat it should be used in a sandwich. For best results, eat the sandwich once the cheddar reaches room temperature. At this point it has softened enough to spread easily over your palate and produces just enough sweat to ensure that the flavor absorbs instantly into your taste buds. Delightful!

Another example of something we have improved on. Any Wisconsin cheddar beats this hands down. The best in the country (according to the food channel) is Cedar Grove. Try the extra sharp cheddar for the best.

Really nice cheese, not too dry and not too agressively sharp. Hard to stop eating it, in fact three of us demolished the 1/2# brick in one sitting.

Comments about Cornish County Larder Farmhouse Cheddar (Purple Wax):

An english cheddar with a rather unusual flavour, it is not typical of American cheddars. It is sharp, but not overwhelmingly so. I hesitate to mix a flavour this interesting and balanced against anything more than a water cracker or green grapes, but I think it would compliment a hamburger or make mac & cheese just as nicely.
