This cheese has gained international attention through the popular English animation feature of Wallace & Gromit and their long lasting devotion to their favorite snack of Wensleydale with cream crackers. They went through exceptional means to get hold of Wensleydale. As fortune would have it, there is no need to go to the moon because you can order Wensleydale from igourmet.

Wonderfully crumbly....a lot like Cheshire. Great with Greek Olives....

I remembered this cheese from 1971, and it is just as good as I remembered. I love British cheeses above all others.
Comments about Wensleydale:
Wensleydale has just the right combination of crumbly, but not too much, flavorful, but not overbearing. Best with a pretzel or whole wheat cracker.
Comments about Wensleydale:
Comes in 1lb wedges. Don't keep it too long after opening

I find myself snacking on this cheese several times a day.

We lived in England for 8 years about 20 miles from Wensleydale and had our first taste of it there. That was almost 30 years ago. We were very excited about being able to purchase it here in the U.S. Goes great with Jacobs Creme Crackers.
Comments about Wensleydale:
A versatile and flavorful cheese that can be used in many ways.
Comments about Wensleydale:
I ordered this cheese because of the exposure this cheese got in the Wallace and Grommit shorts (my children found the word "Wensleydale" amusing). It is a very tasty, non-oily cheese that melts easily and tastes delicious straight out of hand, as well as melted, or as part of a multi-cheese sauce for macaroni and cheese.
Comments about Wensleydale:
We tried this cheese when we visited England and my son and I enjoyed it VERY much. We are fans of Wallace & Gromit and that is why we had to try it. We have checked specialty markets here in the U.S. and only found the with fruit variety (cranberries) and we didn't care for that at all.
Comments about Wensleydale:
Ordinary. A safe cheese for those who want something different, but not that different. Mild flavor. Try it if you're a Wallace and Gromit fan.
