(based on 11 ratings)
Located in: Cheese, France
This cheese from Savoie is aged in a cellar or cave, where it is turned every two days and washed with brine or whey to speed the aging process. This forms a velvety, yellowish rind on the cheese. The cheese itself has a creamy texture; a nutty after taste; and a delicate herbal aroma. Calling all cheese lovers, this exquisite aromatic cheese is a relatively rare find in the United States, so take advantage of it while you can. As Reblochon can no longer be imported to the USA, this is the closest we have found to that rare pleasure.
  • Best enjoyed within seven days of delivery.
  • Made from pasteurized cow's milk.
  • Photo depicts whole 17.8 ounce form of cheese.

Comments about La Tournette - Reblochon-style Tomme:

I wouldn't call this a substitute for Reblechon. It has a more robust flavor and is creamier. We did enjoy it for itself as a part of a cheese plate both for lunch and after dinner.

Comments about La Tournette - Reblochon-style Tomme:

I am maybe too used to Reblochon to really appreciate this cheese.
Fromage de Thones looks like Reblochon, smells like Reblochon, but has a surprising frutty taste, and is not as flavorful and rich as Reblochon. If you want to compare it to Reblochon, I would say it's the "light" version.

We have a French exchange student who wanted to make a casserole for us that called for reblochon and she didn't think any of the local suggestions for substitution would work. The meal came out out fabulous!

Comments about La Tournette - Reblochon-style Tomme:

Tooooo bad that the US and its stupid laws forbid the importation of AOC reblochon. I am from Thones, the country of the Reblochon. If I don't have my reblochon everyday, I get sick! Why, but why did I move to the US???? ;-)
Definitely the best creamy cheese ever... try it in tartiflette!

formerly known as Reblechon... simply amazing cheese, my favorite in the world, after many years eating it in France, a shame it is disappearing from the US.

Was trying to find a Roblochon. This was close, although stronger in flavor. It seemed to be fully ripe upon arrival which meant eating all of it fairly quickly as it gets stronger with age.

I have hidden this cheese from the rest of the household! I have it squirreled away so I know I'll get some of it.

Soft cheeses are my favorites.
