Located in: Cheese, France
Amidst the scenic rolling mountains of the Pyrenees, the geographic border dividing France and Spain, lie vast pastures providing fertile grazing for milk-giving sheep. It is from this milk that Agour, a family company steeped in tradition, creates this magnificent cheese. Aged for a minimum of six months, this AOC protected cheese is of a quality and complexity rarely seen. A slightly dry texture gives way to a creamy, buttery quality, and the flavors hint at a subtle mingling of herbs and fruit, with slightly nutty undertones. A real gem, and one you're sure to enjoy.

For dessert, try Agour Ossau-Iraty accompanied with Les Folies Fromage Fruit Spreads. Black Cherry and Licorice make for an incredible combination.

  • Made from pasteurized sheep's milk.
  • Photo depicts whole 9 lb. form of cheese.
  • We cut and wrap this item by the 1/2 pound.

World Champion honors went to Agour Fromagerie of France for its Ossau Iraty sheep's milk cheese at the World Cheese Awards in London (June 2006).

Comments about Agour Ossau-Iraty:

I ordered this based on the reviews and its world champion honors. I've actually had better of this same type of cheese that I've bought from Whole Foods and Brennan's in Wisconsin--sorry, don't remember the makers but I know it wasn't Agour. But, don't let this stop anyone from trying this exceptional cheese--I've just had better and to know even better is out there may be worth a search--you just may need to have a [...] in your area to find it.The rind (and cheese) from this cheese is very good in a Ceaser salad.

It is the best tasting cheese I have ever had. It is light and mild yet has a distinct flavor. It has a slight sweet taste to it and none of the unpleasant aftertaste that many cheeses possess. It is a little bit of Heaven
