Located in: Cheese, Holland
Over twenty years ago, we had a request from the man who originated "The Cellar" at Macy's. "I want the Dutch Goat cheese I tasted when I was in Holland," he said. We took a trip to Amsterdam and inquired on his behalf to all of our suppliers and any cheese producers we could find. We had no success. There was not an ounce of Dutch goat cheese anywhere! Two decades since that adventure, Dutch goat cheese is still a rarity, except, that is, for Goat Gouda. A few entrepreneurial Dutchmen discovered that Gouda, the cheese people most commonly associate with Holland, could be made from goat's milk as well. Goat Gouda has proven wildly popular in Europe and is starting to turn heads here in the States, too. This satiny, bright white cheese is now manufactured by several Dutch cheese producers, but in our opinion, our Chevre Blanc brand is the best Goat Gouda around. If you like goat cheese, we strongly suggest you try this tangy, satiny, mouth-watering gem.

Comments about Goat Gouda:

This cheese was delicious,... much better than I thought it would be. Smooth and buttery
paste with a soft rind that had a slight "pop" to it. The "goat" was
not very assertive. Although this was not the aged version of the goat Gouda cheese it,
nevertheless, had a few protein crystals which added a delightful tang. Everyone to whom
I gave a sample loved it and wanted to purchase some for themselves the next time I place
in order. I will certainly order it again myself. Delicious eaten by itself and
difficult to stop eating. I would definitely recommend this cheese to anyone.

Comments about Goat Gouda:

I had to keep checking the package to make sure it was really goat gouda, I couldnt taste that signature goat flavor (I honestly dont mind it) I even fooled my boyfriend, he doesnt like the goat cheeses, I told him it was a sheep gouda and he loves it. So Im wondering if I should ever tell him its goat, maybe he will be as amazed as I am and still love it. Its really that good though, so I will be buying it again.
