Grew up with this. Open faced sandwiches, crackers. This is also very good in sauces for wild meats! Yum!

I love this cheese! It is excellent on an artisan bread that contains fruit, (raisins, cranberries, currants) in the mornings. But, my favorite wy to use this cheese is mellted and mixed into baked squash! It goes particulalrly well with acorn squash, but holds up well with pumkin, or butternut squash as well.

I enjoy this product in sandwiches. It is difficult to find outside of Norway.

I'm a very picky eater, so I'm not quite sure how my father coaxed me into trying this as a child, but I'm sure glad he did. You can find this cheese at a [...] (grocery store chain). It's wonderful with fruit including apples and plums. I've been looking for it FOREVER and had no clue it was spelled this way. Thank you for your help!

I had this cheese for the first time a few years ago on a visit to Norway where it is very very common. It's great with crisp flat bread crackers like wassa or rye krisp. Perfect with crispy apples and a nice glass of white wine

I learned to like Ekte Gjetost several years ago while living in Stockholm. There, they slice it very thin and serve it on crisp bread with jam. It is eaten at breakfast, tea,or as a simple dessert. I like it at breakfast on my toasted English muffin. I now live in Wyoming and ,if it wasn't for igourmet.com,I would be out of luck; you can't find it here. AJB

A very rich, slightly sweet flavor, slice it thin & barely heat in microwave on toast or bread. Or eat thin slices a little bit at a time to savor the slightly sweet flavor. Very unusual.

This is great shaved thin on toast or fruit like apples and pears.

We eat it as a snack. Everyone who tried it loved it - both adults and kids. Definitely something I plan to purchase again.

I just love this sweet brown cheese. I ate a ton of it when working in Norway. It is great with hard bread, fruit - especially fresh sliced peaches, and plain. My family loves it, too.
Comments about Ekte Gjetost:
this is so so good. I haven't eaten it WITH anything yet, just straight snacking. It is the best Gjetost I have ever had! I'm limited to goat cheeses so am extra thrilled when something like this comes along that is so extraordinary!

We spent time in Norway this summer, and I am so glad to find a source for this delicious cheese now that we are home.
Slice it very thinly to top rye or wheat crackers. Delicious for breakfast, lunch, or an evening snack with fruit.
Comments about Ekte Gjetost:
The nutty, sweet, melt-in-your-mouth of this lovely goat gjetost is impossible to deny. We especially love to eat it cut into cubes with summer sausage, apples and goat gouda.

Unfortunately, I am the only one who gets into goat cheese at my house, but MORE FOR ME! So storage is a big consideration. This cheese stores very, very well! Great sweet taste each time. Try alone with a cheese plane while you are drinking an after dinner wine. Lovely! And yes, it is like Dulce de Leche meets Norweigan Goats!

I discovered this cheese in Norway, where it is a staple for breakfast. I would always buy a couple of packages at the airport before leaving. Now, I found I can get it here, and it is the same, lovely consistent quality that compliments bread or crackers for breakfast.

This cheese, hard to find near home, arrived in perfect condition from igourmet.com. It has a caramel-like flavor and is sweet. Good as a dessert cheese or with appetizers and a light white wine. There are two kinds, ski queen and ekte gjetost. Ski queen is half cow's, half goat's milk and ekte is all goat's milk. Ekte is firmer while ski queen is creamier and less fully flavored. Worth a try if you are looking for an atypical cheese.

Can't say I have found a new love but due look forward to trying various combinations.

Just as I remember it as a kid. It' awesome for breakfast..wonderful with coffee. Just use a cheese slicer and put atop toasted english muffin or bread with butter. It's slightly similiar to a peanut butter taste. Yum!!
Comments about Ekte Gjetost:
In a contest between this one and Ski Queen, I'll choose Ekte every time! It's just better quality at a comparable price to the other brand. Only real drawback is, it's hard to find!
