Located in: Cheese, Poland
Dairy products are a staple of Polish cuisine. The most commonly used cheeses are zakaski, which is used in the filling of pierogies, and smietana, which is similar to sour cream. The Polish were among the early cultures to consume fermented milk products because they were once a nomadic people, and this was a way to preserve the food as they traveled. This cheese is somewhat firmer than the staple cheeses of Poland. It has a semi-soft, smooth texture and a mild, slightly sweet flavor. It is a good cooking and table cheese. Serve it with fresh fruit and dark, hearty bread.

Comments about Podlaski:

This is a cheddar that is good for cooking with other ingredients. It has enough flavor to stand out but would not overpower the other elements. It was not a stand-out cheddar for enjoying on its own.

Great cheese. I was surprised. A new favorite, and a bargain at that. My cat, who attacked my plate to get a piece, concurs.

Comments about Podlaski:

This is another of the fabulous Polish cheeses that go well with anything. I often melt it over vegetables or pasta. It is also good as a snack with crackers. It's consistency is very smooth, it doesn't taste starchy like other cheeses. It has a bit of a tang to it. Wonderful cheese!

A milder, semi-soft cheese that is great eating plain, with crackers, in a taosted cheese sandwich, or... Very flexible in use with a milder flavor.
