Herrgardsost is the most popular type of cheese in Sweden and has been produced since the 18th century, when it was created by a Swedish cheese master. Our version, named Vadenost after the Swedish port city, has a similar flavor but distinctly softer texture than English Cheddar. Although made from pasteurized cow's milk, Vadenost maintains a full-bodied, slightly grassy flavor.

The Vadenost was as good as you can expect from a good Swedish Herrgårds- or Grevéost. Way more taste than a standard Cheddar or Colby cheese.

A question though: I am originally Swedish, have spent half a century or so there, and I have never seen this brand of Cheese there. Also the Swedish port city is said to be named after, simply does not exist. What gives?

Pleasant cheese, however!

I really love this Vadenost. It tastes just like Herrgardost, which I eat all the time in Sweden. This product was shipped to me in time and it was packed professionally. My only dissapointment was that this product was a lot smaller than I had anticipated. So it was a good thing that I had ordered 4 Vadenost.
