If you've ever enjoyed the delicious, spicy flavor of the cheese Paneer, cooked in a rich Thai curry sauce, you are sure to love this new cheese from Coombe Castle of England. Coombe Castle starts with their award winning English Cheddar, then adds a vibrant green Thai curry to add some extra zest! While it might sound like an unusual combination, the sharp English cheddar easily carries the savory, spicy flavor of the curry. The spices used are coriander, turmeric, salt, allspice, ginger, fenugreek, garlic, pepper, cumin, and bay leaves. It also doesn't overwhelm you with heat, making this a great snacking cheese!

Apart from eating this cheese on its own, this cheese is also good when melted on mashed potatoes or on toast providing an interesting savory taste. Its electric green color is sure to stand out on any cheese plate, or on a salad.

Comments about Cheddar with Thai Curry:

I find this cheese absolutely delightful for a different taste in snacking treats. I spread on it Chutney for Cheeses and it is even more delicious. I've not yet tried it melted over a baked potato but plan to do so soon.

Comments about Cheddar with Thai Curry:

My friends said "Yuck!" when I told them I was going to order cheddar cheese flavored with curry. I thought that was odd because they love both British cheddar and curry, but they said they couldn't imagine the two married. The combination however turned to be a marriage made in heaven. The curry is delightfully mild - not overpowering the cheddar flavor. Put a slice on your favorite mild flavored cracker and top it with mango chutney or apricot preserves. Great for breakfast or an after dinner snack.

Comments about Cheddar with Thai Curry:

I was intrigued by the combination of curry and cheddar, so thought I'd try it. What an amazing surprise! The flavor is electric- a great balance between spicy curry and great cheddar. It was a hit on the cheese plate as well as in a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, but as a substitute for cheddar in macaroni and cheese, it was exotic.

Had to try this after reading other reviews. We loved it on baked potatoes, and it was very good in a cauliflower gratin. Very unique and unusual, which we enjoyed but our kids did not!

If you love curry and you love cheddar, this is the cheese for you. It crumbles easily so it is not easy to serve with crackers.

Comments about Cheddar with Thai Curry:

If you're looking for a strong cheddar or curry flavor, this isn't for you. But if you like a milder cheddar and a mild curry taste, this is a good choice. I'll try it in dishes but right now, I like it as a snack.

Comments about Cheddar with Thai Curry:

Living the bulk of my life in Kent, I've come to love Coombe's cheese. When I left the UK, it was great to be able to find a source to keep trying their new creations. This was great for snacking on it's own, but it also made a delicious curried potato gratin.

Pros:
Flavorful
Best Uses:
Cracker and fruit
Bottom Line:

Comments about Cheddar with Thai Curry:

There is nothing Thai about this cheese. The curry flavor is that of am American knock off ("curry powder") of an Indian yellow curry. Plus the cheese was yellow not green.
