"Dispensa Italiana" was a small shop founded in 1867 in Italy, where Renzo Bertolotti mastered confectionary specialties by adapting regional recipes. As a tribute to Bertolotti, Muggia of Parma presents this decorative gift box containing the best of Renzo's dessert recipes. This assortment is a wonderful way to share traditional Italian desserts with your friends and family:
  • Spongata are the traditional cakes of Parma and can only be found in this part of Italy. Spongata's origins date back to the XIV century.
  • Amaretti are traditional soft almond cookies lightly coated with granulated sugar. Ingredients include sugar, apricot kernels, and egg whites.
  • Cantuccini Biscotti are crisp almond cookies designed to be dipped in coffee or sweet wine. Primary ingredients include wheat flour, sugar, almonds, egg yolks, butter and honey.
  • Baci di Dama Cookies are Italian mini-sandwich cookies. Each is a pair of bite-sized hazelnut cookies with creamy chocolate filling.
  • Panettone may be the most famous traditional Italian holiday dessert. Legend has it the first Panettone, a lightly sweetened leavened cake, was made in Milan in the 15th century.
  • Pandoro comes from Verona. Pandoro is sprinkled with fine powdered sugar and has a soft texture and a rich buttery flavor.

Delicious assortment of treats in a convenient package that travels well. The only way it could be better is to drive to the Italian bakery and catch the goodies straight out of the oven.
