
When the Arabs entered Spain in the mid-700s, they were greeted to the Dark Ages of Europe. Within 200 years, the Moors had turned Spain into a bastion of commerce and beauty. By introducing irrigation systems, they turned the dry plains into fertile land. One of the delicacies they brought with them was the almond. As a result, they also introduced their dessert- making skills using almonds.
