Located in:Chocolate/Desserts, Chocolates
We are pleased to introduce this luxurious chocolate bar, courtesy of the renowned Don Giuseppe Puglisi of Modica, Sicily. Puglisi's chocolate bars are made in the Aztec tradition, creating a rustic, brittle chocolate untainted by modern machinery and artificial flavorings. The chocolate's opaque patina comes from its cold production process which maintains the full flavor of each ingredient. Delicate and speckled with reddish blooms, the brittle chocolate crumbles upon disturbance. The unusual texture is the antithesis of mass-produced chocolate. Thanks to a painstaking handmade method, the quality of the ingredients is allowed to shine through. This treat will be a find for any chocolate lover!
  • Available in 8 flavors: Classic, Chili, Coffee, Cinnamon, Ginger, Bergamotto (Orange Essence), Pistachio, or Vanilla.

I hate to even mention this product. I love it so much! [...] If you are looking for a different texture with chocolate this is your chocolate. I do not like the greasy film left in my mouth from regular chocolate. This satisfies the chocolate craving without the fat.

I loved the chocolate with chili. It has a nice little bite but not overly. I ate it as a dessert and haven't tried it for other things. It was hard to eat just a little bit. I wanted to eat it all in one sitting but restrained myself. It had a wonderful texture.

I guess I expected more with all the great reviews,
Although it has a nice flavor , I found it underwhelming, the hot cocoa was good but it still needed a pinch of cinnamon

I love this chocolate, especially in the vanilla. I'm not fond of sweets, but do like to treat myself to something, and these bars fit the bill. I like the texture, the way they sort of crumble in your mouth. I always make sure I have a stash of them around, and mid evening I break off one segment as I watch a movie or cruise the internet.

This bar is rustic, yet it makes a richly decadent mug of drinking chocolate. Bonus points for the lack of soy in the bar!

[...] This chocolate is not creamy, and we initially bought it for hot chocolate. We have, however, come to enjoy just eating a small piece of it after dinner with coffee. It's wonderful.

Crumbly, not smooth.
By Phoenix Chef from Rockland, Maine on 3/1/2007
Pros:
Durable
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Was looking for a very bitter eating chocolate...too crumbly and not smooth for this purpose. Don't know how it would hold up in baking or melting.

Our Favorite Chocolate

Pros:
High Quality
Cons:
none
Best Uses:
Eating, Garnish for Baking, Hot Chocolate
Bottom Line:

This is my husband's favorite chocolate and I don't know anyone who likes chocolate quite as much as he does. The sugar granuales compliment the chocolate and add an interesting texture in your mouth. It only take a little to be satisfied. It is also a great addition to the top of tiramisu.

Intense chocolate flavor
By RubyVerified Reviewer from New York on 2/23/2007
Pros:
High Quality
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is a highly sugar/grainy chocolate bar with a deep, dark chocolate flavor. It is similar to Mexican chocolate and likewise when melted in milk, makes a wonderfully rich hot cocoa beverage.

too sugary
By Nancy from Virginia on 2/22/2007
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I tried several different flavors of this, and didn't care for them. Kind of liked the grainy texture, but they tasted of sugar, not chocolate. Great for mouse-bait, though - these were under the Christmas tree for my son, and Christmas morning confirmed something we suspected: mouse in the house. For the record, this WAS the mouse's favorite chocolate ;-)

-Superb-
By Cori from UK on 2/22/2007
Pros:
Durable, Good Value, High Quality
Best Uses:
After dinner
Bottom Line:

This is really delightful stuff. Great of you're a bonafide chocoholic like myself. I was quite partial to the chile variety (the subtle spiciness is a great contrast).
I'd definitely buy this again.....

Very good stuff, also makes a great gift. I plan to try the other flavors. I think it would make fantastic fondue and or a great chocolate sauce as well.
