The Vosges Haut-Chocolat mission is to create a luxury chocolate experience rooted in a sensory journey of bringing about awareness to indigenous cultures through the exploration of spices, herbs, roots, flowers, fruits, nuts, chocolate and the obscure. To ensure this, Owner/Chocolatier, Katrina Markoff, personally chooses every spice, flower and chocolate that is flown into their Chicago kitchen.

From Vosges comes the smokey flame of the Red Fire Exotic Candy Bar. Originally, cocoa beans were crushed and used with vanilla, cornmeal and chilies in a frothed drink. When Spanish conquistadors brought the seeds back to Spain, new recipes were created by removing the spices and adding sugar, and mainstream chocolate consumption was born. Vosges takes chocolate back to its roots with the Red Fire bar, blending dark chocolate with ancho and chipotle chili peppers and Ceylon cinnamon.

I loved this chocolate bar, I've tried all of the Vosges bars you sell and loved them all. I've put this in a chocolate cake recipe and it was great.It gave it that extra something that kept people guessing. Thanks for selling this wonderful product.

The red fire bar is an excellent introduction to modern flavored chocolates, and is one of the best palate-cleansers I've encountered. Cinammon is the dominant note, and the hot peppers add flavor more than bite. If you're looking for something a little bit exotic but not painfully spicy, this is a good choice.

The chocolate base, however, is on the sweet side, and if you're a lover of really dark chocolate and very strong flavors or spicy foods (like me), this bar is going to be a bit too mild.
