La Mere Poulard is the name of a very famous restaurant in "Le Mont Saint Michel," started in the 19th century. Owned by an old woman (La Mere Poulard) who was an excellent cook, the restaurant still exists today and is quite popular. Since 1888, the name "Mere Poulard" has come to stand for quality. These sinful Galettes (thin French butter cookies) are light and buttery and come in an enchanting French box.

Most French cookies are excellent. This is an average product, along the lines of a typical Nabisco cookie. Not "bad" but definitely nothing special.
