Menu is a specialty food products company that began life as a salami factory run by Romolo Barbieri in Cavezzo (province of Modena), Italy in the 1930s. Over the years, the company, now run by Romolo's son, Rodolfo, has expanded to create quality Italian food products for fine restaurants around the world. Because Menu is usually not sold retail, but exclusively to fine restaurants, the no-frills packaging can appear slightly industrial. Don't let this fool you. Menu products are reserved for fine dining, and igourmet is fortunate to be able to offer these quality products to the at-home chef.

These fairly liquid toppings are very versatile. Just drizzle to add flavor and color to desserts such as cakes, ice-cream, frozen desserts, ice-cream cakes, puddings, custards, and mousses. We offer dessert topping in two flavors: Chocolate, and Frutti di Bosco (Wild Berries).

I purchased quite a bit over the holidays and i am just getting through testing some of them now. I did get a chance to try this out over some plain vanilla ice cream over the holidays and it was just wonderful. I purchased the Fruitti di Bosco which is it is a very sweet blend of berries, almost like a thin berry puree. It has many uses, you could use it to flavor just about anything in baking, cakes, breads, puddings, ice creams, etc, I used it ON my ice cream and it was wonderful and not to overpowering. I would also recommend a bit on oatmeal in the morning to flavor plain oats. It could also be a flavor for soy or yogurt. The possibilites are endless. A dessert of angel food cake, fresh berries, fresh cream whipped to a nice creamy consistency to top the cake and some of the Fruitti di Bosco to drizzle over the cake. Just mouthwatering. Mangia!
