I've considered myself a connoisseur of coffee for over thirty years, liking what is usually referred to as a bold style of coffee. I was looking forward to tasting this coffee based upon the strong, positive reviews. But I was extremely disappointed with my very first cup and this feeling did not improve with the second and third cup.
I find this coffee to be very bitter. It's not overly acidic, but leaves a harsh taste on the back of the tongue that I don't care for. I finally gave up on it and have been using up the rest of it by blending it in small portions with coffee that I know I like. Given it's price, I didn't have the stomach to just throw it out.
We drink this coffee in the morning but feel it would be good anytime. Great flavor and the medium roast is perfect.

Enjoy the great taste and aroma.
We tried this coffee several yrs ago at a franchise restaurant and were so pleased we had to ask what kind they used. Since then, this is the only coffee I have in my home.
This is great coffee; just like you get at the very best restaurants.
Had this coffee in Europe, and I have never found better.

The first time I tasted Douwe Egbert Coffee I ordered it for luncheon on a whim because that is NOT when I usually drink coffee--"only for breakfast" was my motto. I was literally amazed when I tasted it. I was in a 100-year old restaurant on the Intercoastal in my home town in Florida. I JUST HAD to know the name of it!
I am an elderly lady and awaken several times each night. If my throat is dry, usually about 3 a.m., just water does not quench my thirst but Douwe Egbert coffee does and I go right back to sleep in a moment.

Coffee is something I know well, being an avid consumer and fan. I have lived in several places and this is the best all around coffee I have ever found. It is not widely available outside the Netherlands and I have gone out of my way to stop in places where it is available, simply to buy it. I was thrilled to find you carried it and look forward to enjoying it every morning.

This has to be the smoothest coffee we have ever tried--and we've tried most of the "best". It has been a big hit with friends and family; now they are "hooked" too.

We had this coffee at a weekend retreat several years ago and we asked the server what brand it was and we have been enjoying it ever since. We have also intorduced several relatives to it also. We use it mainly on the weekends when we can sit down and really enjoy a cup of coffee or special get togethers with family and friends.
I appreciate having the ability to buy in packaged amounts; great for sharing with others.
this coffee is a true comfort food
I love this coffee because it is smooth and pleasant to drink at any time. At it's best in a plunger with filtered water.

This is the best coffee we have ever tried. We keep coming back to it. Our son introduced us to Douwe Egbert coffee when he brought us a gift of the coffee from the Netherlands. We have been buying it since...2002.

Glad we found this coffee online, other wise we have to go to Nederland to get it.
I'm not claiming to be an expert, but this is the best coffee I've ever tasted. I knew it 1 second after my first sip.
I first tasted this coffee in Belgium and was thrilled to find it here on [...] It's really powerful coffee and I make my own blend with it plus 2 other coffees that is wowing my friends. I think I am going to go into the coffee blending business :)
First tried this coffee at a casino. Found it online [...] Was not the same flavor. After inquiring, found out the casino uses "instant", not ground. Major differences. This one is okay, just not the flavor I wanted.
I first tasted this product in Brussels and was blown away at the full flavor without the bitterness. It was hard to find here in the U.S. and was quite pleased to find it on iGourmet. Have stocked up on it--I use it to make my own blend, as it's pretty robust coffee with Trader Joe's organic decaf coffee and this middle eastern coffee that I found that is laced with cardamon. All this goes into my Briel Mulit-Pro espresso machine for a yummy cup of java.
Great atmosphere attracts, a great cup of coffee keeps you coming back. This is certainly true of this particular coffee. It's sweet aroma and smooth flavor is the perfect compliment to any meal. It compliments any dessert from Creme' Brule to a rich Chocolate layer tort without overpowering the tastes of a particular dish or dessert! We're certainly planning to make this THE way to start our day!
