I bought this for my boyfriend. I dont usually drink a lot of coffee. I was also worried it would be too dark (bought the dark roast). It was so good. I became addicted after having a cup with him and now brew it to drink by myself. Its very smooth and nutty.
Douwe Egberts Ground Coffee is fantastic...I am waiting along with everyone else when they will make their colombian liquid coffee into a ground coffee for home use! [...]I always buy from them....

We rent an oceanfront vacation home in Mendocino, CA twice a year, and don't want to deal with a coffee grinder. As seniors, we're limited to decaf for evenings. Our first experience with Douwe was this month, and we were ecstatic about it. We have many excellent roasters in the Sacramento area, and Thanksgiving Coffee's home is located 1 mile from our vacation home, but I believe we're now switching coffee allegiance!

I purchased the decaf roast - it was rich, and had a lovely coffee flavor, a full-bodied flavor yet light with no bitter after taste. I used no sweetener, and powerded coffee creamer.

I haven't found anything that is not great about this coffee. I love it hot and iced. I use the decaf and regular, both are equally fantastic.
I was a Dunkin Donut coffee addict...big in the northeast.

I was so excited to find a source for Douwe Egberts - we love the commercial application and buy it wherever we can - restaurants, hospital cafeterias etc. But those folks use a liquid concentrate that the public can't buy. The coffee I bought which totaled [$] for the 1/2 lb incl shipping was very disappointing. It didn't have any of the smooth almost chocolatey taste that we expect from D.E. I won't even finish the package.

THIS COFFEE IS AMAZING! It was served in a resturaunt where I used to work, and after I quit that is what I missed the most. When I don't have it I crave it. It is the best coffee I have ever tasted.

We mix Douwe Egberts' decaf (half and half) with Douwe Egberts' French Roast and find it satisfyingly flavorful without the "caffeine jitters". Wish it were shade grown for sake of the environment.

We first tried this coffee at a Mother's Day brunch. My husband and mother had the coffee and couldn't stop talking about it, they loved it so much! We wanted to be able to drink it at home and my search led me to igourmet. Now we are spoiled - no one makes as good a coffee. We served it at our daughter's birthday and our family loved it too!

Douwe Egbert is my favorite coffee. I would buy more, but, as a retiree, it is a little pricey.
I save it for special occasions.

I first tried this at a local convenience store and instantly was hooked. I looked everywhere for it and found it here at igourmet. I ordered it, recieved it and was anxious to make it at home. I was disappointed. Not the same great smooth flavor. (I even made it with distill water so our well water woudl not affect the flavor.) Maybe it's not the same blend, I don't know.

It has a smooth taste and finsh. Desirable especially for people that do not like a strong coffee taste but a mild one.

As a chef, I've long been a fan of good coffee. My father on the other hand had long dismissed expensive coffee such as starbucks or mail order brands and would constantly drink the blue can stuff for years stating that it didn't get any better. For christmas this year, since I was spending it with them, I ordered him the medium ground coffee (as he wouldn't know what a coffee grinder was let alone how to use one). I made him a cup on christmas morning without telling him what was in it, and he was absolutely speechless, insisting I had a special recipie and had to give it to him. The question "what did you do to my coffee" came up and this is the best cup I have ever had. My old school dad was sold and when I handed him the expensive mail order brand I had to add Igourmet to his favorites list, because he wants a truckload. Thanks for bridging an age old divide, and proving me right.

I, personally, drink tea. But, my son is a big coffee drinker and quite fussy. At a restaurant in Andover, MA recently he commented on how he loved the coffee. I tracked down what kind it was and purchased yours on line. I gave he and his wife some for their anniversary along with breakfast muffins, bagels, and all the other great stuff that goes with a breakfast. We were at Grand Bay Resort in Mexico and had this wonderful coffee that we just had to have in the home. I've never had coffee that does not need half-n-half. This coffee is perfect black. I always now look forward to drink this coffee everytime. I highly recommend.
I had this coffee for the first time in Las Vegas at the Paris Hotel last year. I asked the waiter what the name of it was. I'd never heard of it before,[...] It's wonderful coffee.

Having a love for experimenting with different types of coffee, their origins, etc I had heard nothing but good things about Douwe Egberts. I finally pulled the trigger and it was well worth it. I received it so fast and boxed nicely. Making myself wait until the next morning for the first brew, it was well worth it! Such a smooth, comforting, aroma filled blend that offers a perfect roast. Give it a try- I am sure you will nit be dissapointed! : )
I purchased the decafinated. I quit my old coffee club. This stuff is GREAT!

Rich, full bodied
Some old timers say that most French roasted coffee is actually burnt coffee which is pawned off on unknowing customers who want a burnt taste. This coffee is carefully roasted to be dark, but it is not burnt - so you get a very pure, strong flavor. I enjoy blending it with a Starbucks French roast coffee to give more authentic flavor. It takes some time to appreciate the difference in true coffee which is not burnt. It comes packed in an extremely tight packed vacuum brick, pre-ground fine.
Excellent. Price is high for the quantity of the packets.

Simply put, this is the best coffee I've ever tasted, and I've tasted ALOT!!! Recently had this at a brunch at my golf course. I never in a million years thought a coffee could be THIS GOOD! It has subtle hints of cocoa and a good bold taste without being "heavy" on the palate.
I think one needs the correct coffee machine to process this coffee as the restaurants do. I will not order it again as I didn't think it was anything special.

I've had this coffee at local restaurants and finally was able to buy it myself... it's every bit as good as I thought it would be!
I first tried your coffee at a local restaurant and needed to know the name of the product. I ordered it on line and now can enjoy it at home.
Some of my favorite restaurants serve this coffee. I love the taste of it so much that I searched the internet, and finally found it[...]. Since then, I have given this coffee for gifts, and everyone has loved it.
I would have rather bought the beans to grind myself instead of the pre-ground coffee, but it still tasted quite good.
I'm not really a coffee person persay. However after sipping from my husbands cup at a resturant i was on a mission to find this coffee. I was frustrated i couldn't just go to the store and buy it [...]
The ground version of this coffee is good, but the flavor is not even close to what is served in restaurants and hotels, which is what I was looking for. I am disappointed in it and probably won't purchase it again.
I bought this coffee for the first time when I was on my honeymoon in St. Maarten over five years ago. I have been looking for it commercially in the states ever since. After finding it again, I am soooo not disappointed. I love coffee and this stuff is at the top of the charts despite not being whole bean. Amazing fully body and flavor...a little goes a long way.
We celebrated my 3rd year wedding anniversary in the Harrah's Casino in Cherokee North Carolina. You would think that would be a grat anniversary in itself but little did we know we would have the best coffee ever. We could not wait to get home and find where to buy this coffee to continue the experience and share with our friends. It's like having a coffee shop in your own home.
We first had Douwe Egbert at the buffett in the Alladin in Las Vegas. The coffee was so good we asked the brand and were told it was Douwe Egbert. I went on line and found [...] as a place to purchase it and have been drinking it ever since. I also bought a Senseo machine so I could make it at work.

I am a very picky coffee drinker. I usually need 10 creams in one cup of coffee. But, I happened to have the best cup of coffee I have ever had at [...]and had to ask what kind of coffee it was. I had two full cups in one sitting, something I never do. And, I barely had to use any cream since it was so delicious. Once you drink this coffee, you will never find another as delicious!
I first tasted Douwe Egberts coffee in a restaurant that is more than 100 years old, located on the intercoastal in Lantana, Fl. It was noon and I seldom drink coffee after 10 a.m. "Wow, this is the best coffee I have ever tasted in a restaurant" I said, then asked the server the name of the coffee and even had her write the name for me. We were served this coffee at a dinner at the Safety Harbor Spa and Resort on the west coast of Florida. The waiter was kind enough to tell us the brand name. Very glad to be able to get this coffee for home use. We use the decaf and with our excellent Krups coffee machine it tastes as good as what we had at the spa.
To all that are concerned with the difference between what you taste in a commercial establishment with DE coffee and the taste you get at home.... the difference is the commercial establishments casinos, hotels, resturants, etc use the syrup version of theDE coffee not the grinds... it is a liquid instant that is put into a machine and dispersed with hot water at the time they push the button... it does have a more nutty taste than the grind version... so... if you do not get the same great taste at home as you do when you are dining out... that is the reason.... resturants lease the machine that converts the syrup to coffee.... it is better than the grinds you use at home but the home version is still better than any other home brewed coffee on the market today....
This is one of the best coffee's I have ever had. I just love coffee, the flavor is so smooth and exotic that it truly pleases my taste buds. And will definitely share it with my friends.

A great cup of coffee is a great cup of coffee and you get what you pay for. When you compare taste and aroma to less expensive choices this coffee wins every time. Non-decaf drinkers cannot tell that they are not drinking full caffeinated coffee.
The dark roast is by far the best coffee I've ever had. I make the medium or dark roast depending on my mood and the company present at different times of the day. Everyone raves about this coffee. For a truly unbeatable cup of coffee use the dark roast in a French Press.

Discovered this coffee which is served at the Safety Harbor Spa & Resort in Florida. The waiter gave us the name. Incredibly smooth tasting decaf with no bitter after taste. Worth every penny and possibly the best tasting decaf in the world.
This is the coffee served at the MGM Grand and many Embassy Suites hotels. Great Coffee!
We received Douwe Egberts coffee as a Christmas gift from a relative who discovered it while in the Netherlands. After finishing our gift pack, we HAD to order more. Thank goodness [...] offers Douwe Egberts. If you consider yourself a coffee lover, you have to get this brand. It's delicious, smooth and extremely flavorful! Enjoy ~

I love this coffee! I first had it at my son's house, and quickly did a search on the internet to find it. [...] I drink it in the morning, and what a great way to start the day.
I was so excited to find this on your website. It is a wonderful tasting coffee, but is missing the unique nutty flavor that came from the restaurant. Although it has a good coffee flavor, it just isn't the same.

I brewed using the recommended amount of coffee, plus some extra subsequently; but, while it is a decent coffee, it's nothing like the D Egberts I've enjoyed/relished in restaurants. [...]

I first encounted this coffee at a restaurant in Geneva, IL. It has a bold taste without being too strong. Never bitter. Really good tasting coffee.
