Ambangulu Tea Estate is located in northern Tanzania. It is situated on the East Coast of Africa, directly south of the Kenyan border and near Ngorongo Crater, a primary wildlife reserve. Ambangulu is a fairly small tea plantation that produces quality, well-cultivated tea. Recently, there has been a high demand for this quality on the world tea trading scene, and it's easy to see why.

Ambangulu tea is BP1 (Broken Pekoe 1) and CTC (cut, torn, and curled), grown at 5,700 feet above sea level. It is shipped out of Tanga on the Indian Ocean (440 km North of Zanzibar). The infusion is bright, lively, and coppery. A full-bodied tea with great flavor, Ambangulu is rich, malty, and mellow - with no rough edges.

This is one of my favorite teas. Great body, great value. It steeps quickly and the leaves can stand up to a repeat visit. Moreover, it blends well with other teas. Think the Maple Ceylon is a little strong, blend it with this tea! And so on.
It's a staple in my home.
