Our dense, dark rye bread hails from Germany where bread is an essential element to their cuisine. Dark Rye Bread is made with rye, water, yeast and salt - without preserving agents. Already pre-sliced, this bread can be served with cheese instead of crackers, or topped with vegetable or cheese spreads, patés, or cured meats.

I bought this for my European grandmother who LOVED it- its supposed to be dense; that's what makes this so perfect. Another reviewer disliked this product because it was dense: thats like poorly rating a yellow species of tomato because its not red like you're used to. So yummy!

I am not used to such a heavy, concentrated bread. If I were European I may feel differently about it.
