Saffron is the most expensive of all spices. Saffron is obtained from the stigmas of the crocus flower and must be hand picked. Usually associated with the famous Italian specialty Risotto Milanese, Antico Pastificio Toscano Morelli has flavored their signature wheat germ pasta with saffron. This not only gives it a bright yellow color, but also adds a lovely delicate flavor and aroma of saffron. Their Saffron Tagliatelle stands up to many flavors. It is especially good with fish and shellfish, chicken, tomato and cream sauces, and the addition of wine. Don't be shy in experimenting with this flavorful, all natural pasta with its striking color.

Comments about Morelli Pasta with Saffron:

This pasta is absolutely wonderful. It has a delicate but superbly savory saffron flavor that would be wonderful with just about anything. I tossed it with a couple of big spoonfuls of the Menu Mushroom and Truffle Crema, and was in heaven. The pasta came out al dente despite my talent for overcooking pasta. The package is absolutely huge - I used less than 1/2, and had at least 3 servings. Highly recommend this!

Wonderful flavored pasta. Try topping it with some fresh shrimp sauteed with some olive oil, garlic, a couple of roma tomatoes, and a little arugula. Fantastic!
