Jambalaya is a classic Cajun dish. Some say it came from the period of Spanish rule in Louisiana and represents a slurring together of jamon and paella. Others say it derives from the French jambon because ham is one of the main ingredients of jambalaya. Whatever the origin, jambalaya is a uniquely Cajun dish. It was a distinctly adaptable dish that varied according to whatever meat or seafood the early settlers could get their hands on. It combines cooked rice with a variety of ingredients including tomatoes, onions, green peppers and almost any kind of meat, poultry and/or shellfish. Traditionally, the day's bounty was added to the pot, making each new serving subtly different from day to day. Konriko has created a mix of carefully selected blend of spices and rice from Southern Louisiana (containing no MSG). All you need to do is add whatever main flavor that strikes your fancy and cook. Makes 6 servings.
Comments about Konriko Jambalaya Mix with Rice:
If you don't know how to make a jambalaya this will get you pretty darn close to the real mccoy.
The flavors are great. I added a little Cayenne for heat and threw in the holy trinity (Bell Peppers, Celery, Onion) for some vegetables and then followed the instructions and it was really good. Oh I used shrimp one time and chicken sausage the other and both were good. You could combine the two if the mood struck you.
All in all a good, quick, easy entree for any meal
