"Demerara" refers to the place in Guyana where this type of large-crystaled sugar first originated many years ago. Billington's All-Natural Demerara Sugar is a crunchy, golden brown sugar with a sticky texture and rich aroma. Its large, sparkling champagne-colored crystals make it a terrific, crunchy topping on cookies, cakes, and desserts. It is also fantastic on grilled fruit, sprinkled on melons, and especially good in iced tea. In England, Demerara sugar is the traditional sweetener for coffee.

Comments about Demerara Sugar Cubes:

I learned about Demerara while staying with friends in the UK in 2001. I fell in love with it instantly and have been using it in my morning coffee ever since. It sweetens and adds a subtle "nutty" flavor.

Comments about Demerara Sugar Cubes:

It brought back childhood memories of eating this sugar straight from the packet. The delicious taste and texture make me wonder why it is not available on supermarket shelves.
