Rose water is distilled from rose petals. This fragrant essence is more often known to us as an ingredient in perfumes rather than in cooking, but in the Middle East, North Africa, and India, it is also used to flavor desserts, meats, beverages and salads. Just a few drops add a delicate, aromatic flavor to foods. It can be used in making madeleines, marzipan, and Turkish Delight. Add a splash to icing cakes, chocolate mousse, fruit salads, biscuits, whipped cream, puddings, ice cream, or even tea. Just a few drops allow you to recreate authentic sweet lassi or bandung.
