What a FUN product! This little spread can Mex-ify almost anything. Too bad it comes only in those tiny containers; I'm thinking a tube or 12 oz. squeeze bottle....

Comments about Maya Kaimal's Fresh Chutney Blends:

i really love both the cilantro and the fig chutneys, but the fig chutney was my favorite. despite the warning to use in a few days, i kept mine in my fridge without loss of flavor or mold for at least 3 weeks. i enjoyed it simply on fresh tofu (or cheese or whatever) with rice and steamed kale ... or on crackers with cheese, or even with nut-butter on toast. very versitile and flavorful.

Comments about Maya Kaimal's Fresh Chutney Blends:

I was glad to find that along with the chutney being fresh, it had a very fresh fig flavor. In the past I found "pretty good" fig chutneys, but they were full of tough bits of dry fig skin. Maya's chutney is quite smooth with a sweet fruit, and slightly tart flavor. The packaging reccomends it only lasts for 3-5 days after opening, so I used it up in two meals. The best was as a topping for grilled eggplant.

Comments about Maya Kaimal's Fresh Chutney Blends:

If you're expecting the kind of flavorful cilantro chutney you'd find in a good Indian restaurant -- this isn't it. In fact, what it needs more of is cilantro. It's very much missing in this one.

Comments about Maya Kaimal's Fresh Chutney Blends:

I love chutneys, although I've always enjoyed the bright herbal ones more than the English onion-and-cinnamon types. I used the cilantro chutney as a dip for Thai spiced shrimp and it was out of this world! The cilantro has a wonderful pungency and it's so smooth and creamy, with lots of crunchy-sweet almonds. I was really impressed. Come summertime, I'm trying the fig chutney for grilled lamb kebabs!
