This unique product from Greece is a home-style country fruit preserve known in Greece as “spoon sweets”. Visitors to a Greek home are traditionally offered a sweet welcome with a spoonful of the lady of the house’s homemade preserves. Any traditional village café or “kefeneion” would also offer a well filled teaspoon, (hence the name), accompanied with strong Greek coffee and a glass of iced water.

The main difference between spoon sweets and jams or preserves is that the fruit, in this case white grape raisins, retains its original shape and color as well as its taste and aroma. This wonderful spoon sweet is also a tasty addition on toast at breakfast time, mixed in yogurt or spooned on top of ice cream.

Comments about Greek White Grape (Raisin) Preserves:

Spoon sweets are super sweet so you use a tablespoon as a serving. Serve with a cold glass of water and coffee. Preferably Greek coffee.
