This extraordinary honey originates from the Alentejo region of Portugal. An abundance of lavender thrives in this untamed area, allowing bees to propogate freely. The result is a sparkling gold honey. Da Morgada adds hazelnuts and almonds which compliments the honey's texture and flavor. Spoon this honey over ice cream and pound cake or drizzle some over one of our Portuguese cheeses.

I tried this honey because it sounded interesting, and it's turned out to be a real favorite. I particularly like the hazelnut version. I make my own yogurt, and this works great to sweeten it and give it a nutty flavor. I also use it instead of brown sugar in whole wheat pancakes. It's expensive, but there are an abundance of nuts in the jar, and a little goes a long way.
