In 1940, after the Spanish civil war, a new phase in the Spanish economy began. After years of poverty, the Spanish market was eager for new products. It was then that Alfredo Alberola, a man with good vision, saw that his treasured olive stuffed with anchovies, a delicious homemade appetizer, would become a best-selling product in Spain. Thus, he founded La EspaƱola in 1941, a company that would go on to become Spain's most popular manufacturer of olives.

Recently, La EspaƱola created a new line of olive-based treates called Picar Dias. Available in three varieties, each is a flavorful melange of olives and spicy pickled vegetables. Each is like tapas in a jar!

  • Original: This mix contains whole green and black olives, carrot slices, caperberries and garlic cloves.
  • Bravas: This hot and spicy concoction combines pimento-stuffed green olives with cornichons, red pepper slices and cocktail onions.
  • Tapa Tapa: A fun mix of black and green pickle-stuffed olives, cocktail onions, caperberries and pimento slices.
Varieties sold separately.

Comments about Picar Dias:

The caper berries in the original are the best I've seen. Good mix and quick snack. I tried all three and all are good, but original is my favorite. Be aware this product is by necessity high in sodium.
