Cornichons are crisp, tart, pickled baby cucumbers. Drenched in a brine of white wine vinegar, salt, pearl onions and select spices, these tangy little pickles are zesty and delicious. They are the traditional accompaniment to patés, smoked fish and meats, as well as a necessary ingredient when serving Raclette. From the heart of Provence, these authentic French Cornichons will surely find a welcome home in your gourmet pantry.

I was just playing around with recipes on the IGourmet website when I saw the recipe for the Smoked Ham Salad on Gruyere Potato coins. It sounded interesting and I wanted to try something different for a party I was having so I ordered the Cornichons. The recipe was a hit. I wasn't sure when I bought them if there would be a difference between cucumbers I usually buy, but these do have a great flavor unlike anything else I've tried. If you aren't sure of a product, check out the recipe section of IGourmet. I've found some really good ones there.

I adore cornichons. These baby pickles do not taste at all like the usual cucumber pickles. They are crunchy and so tasty. You can chop them and use them in recipes but I usually just munch them put of the jar.

I first tasted cornichons as part of an appetizer plate at Jaleo, the renowned tapas bar/restaurant in Washington, DC. Trying to make tapas at home, I ordered these cornichons and served them as part of a small dish, along with a variety of olives and some crusty bread. This is how I usually serve them. [...]
