Any cheese lover will enjoy this gift of select cheeses from the experts at igourmet. These cheeses represent all the many milks and textures to create a complete assortment of cheeses to be enjoyed at any party or affair or sampled individually as a snack with your favorite wine. Suitable for any budding cheese connoisseur:
  • Manchego: Spain's most famous cheese. Made from La Mancha sheep's milk. Firm with herbal notes. (8 oz.)
  • Purple Haze: Purple Haze is a recent addition California cheese maker's Cypress Grove's line of cheeses. Lavender buds mixed with wild harvested fennel pollen give Purple Haze its addicting flavor. Its sweet flavor is wonderful as a dessert with honey and almonds or in a main dish with lamb (4 oz.)
  • Sage Derby: Don't be afraid of the green! Pulverized sage leaves are mixed with water then added to the curd of Derby cheese to create this striking example of English cheesemaking ingenuity. Mild and herbaceous, Sage Derby is the ultimate party cheese. (8 oz.)
  • Pave d'Affinois: A simple, white-rinded cheese with a pleasing finish reminiscent of Brie or Camembert. (6 oz.)
  • Grafton Maple Smoked Cheddar: Maple Smoked Cheddar is just one of the Grafton Village Cheese Company's excellent cheeses. It is bathed in the cool smoke from smoldering hard maple wood for four to six hours at the end of the aging period. (8 oz)
  • Shamrock Cheddar: Shamrock Cheddar is aged for over 12 months and has a creamy, taut texture and sweet, grassy flavor. (8oz)
  • Baby Gouda: Enrobed in red or yellow wax and overwrapped in red cellophane, this baby is darling and delicious. (9 oz)
  • Piave: Piave cheese is born from the cheese making traditions of the land surrounding the ancient river, in which the curd is cooked and the cheese is aged until it is hard. The cheese has an intense, full-bodied flavor that increases with age and makes this cheese absolutely unique. (8 oz)
  • Allgau Emmental : One of the most famous German cheeses, it is not originally from Allgäu, but from the region of Emmental located in the Swiss canton of Bern. (8 oz.)

Comments about Cheese Sampler Gift:

All the labels were upside down, so we couldn't tell what was what without opening the whole thing. The buche de chevre had a pink slimy coating on the rind, although it was otherwise fine. The malagon was delicious. The blue was rotten and had to be thrown out. All of the other cheeses were boring - basically cheddar or cheddar-like.
