La Champagne is a region of timeless natural beauty. The name derives from the Latin ‘campus', ‘campania', or field. In Old French this became ‘Champaign'. Today, Champagne. From the very outset, the wines of Champagne were prized above all the vineyards of Europe. Over 24 million bottles are sold in the U.S. every year. Here are a few cheeses we enjoy with champagne:
Camembert: Born centuries ago in Normandy, one of France's most fertile regions, authentic Camembert is still exclusively produced there. A similar cheese to brie, Camembert is formed into smaller wheels and may have a slightly more robust flavor than its larger cousin. Firm when chilled or runny at room temperature, there are many ways to enjoy this wonderful cheese-- with bread, fruit, or nuts. Best when eaten at room temperature.
Vintage Irish Cheddar: This connoisseur's cheddar, notable for its rich, rounded flavor and firm, smooth body, deserves a place on the cheese board alongside your choice of the world's other great cheeses.
Buche de Chevre: This wonderful goat's milk cheese from Poitou in the Loire Valley comes to us in handcrafted wooden crates containing two four pound logs of the most exquisite chevre we have ever tasted! Each Buche de Chevre is aged for two months, during which time it develops a hard, edible crust complete with a bloomy white mold coating.
: Mini Toasts: Petite toast-shaped crackers that pair perfectly with cheese.
This assortment comes complete with a Trudeau Cheese Serving Set: This clever set has a circular cutting surface that conceals a wooden drawer holding a set of stainless steel cheese serving tools.
