Gary West's smoked recipe dates back to the 1850s, when the West family settled in Jacksonville, Oregon. Their secret is simple -they do everything the old-fashioned way. They use the best inside top rounds, marinate in clean, simple ingredients, and burn only hickory in their smokehouse. This mouth-watering, high-quality jerky is made without shortcuts.

Gary West actually produces gourmet hickory smoked steak strips - not flat, dried out jerky. It only took igourmet experts one taste at a recent food convention to add West's Angus strips to our menu. They're moist, tender, succulent, and extremely addictive. Available in four tantalizing flavors - Cajun, Teriyaki, Peppered and Traditional.

Varieties sold separately.

After reading the description for this product, i was expecting too much. I didn't think it was that much better than other good quality jerkeys I've eaten. I don't think it's worth the expense.

I needed carne seca for a Brazilian stew recipe. I substituted Gary West's Angus Beef strips. The dish came out great with lot's flavor from the jerky.

Comments about Angus Beef Steak Strips by Gary West:

I purchased this in the teriyaki flavor. Though I'm a lover of beef jerky, I found this far inferior to even the cheapest stuff you buy at the corner store - it had no discernible beef flavor, and the "teriyaki" was more like sugar water with a few soggy sesame seeds. It was tender, but I would have preferred a tougher jerky with some flavor.

Unfortunately the traditional jerky was out so I tried the teriyaki. The taste was in your face--sharp and too salty. As a result I rinsed it off and it was somewhat improved. At that point my dog got a very special treat.
