Bonito is a breed of tuna that swims near the shore off northern Spain. This dolphin-safe white meat tuna fish is the most valued fish in Northern Spain. There, bonito are caught by fishermen lining the shore, using bamboo rods with long lines. Many small, traditional boats also fill the bay, coming back to port to take their catch to the fish markets. At dawn, experts from AGROMAR purchase the best tunas and prepare them the very same day. AGROMAR only uses bonito caught from July to September, when the white tuna fishing season becomes a real economic and social event in the riverside villages.

A tremendous leap in quality from the regular tuna you get at the supermarket, note that this tuna is packed in olive oil in whole fillets, not mashed up slivers like most others. Once you taste this exquisite product, your opinion of tuna will change forever.

I have to disagree with the other reviews. I have been using this product for over 10 years. I have tried numerous canned and jarred tuna products and I find that this one is not fishy and has a pure tuna flavor.

On our frequent trips to Spain, the seafood is always a highlight for my family. This tuna is the best I've had out of the jar, and the boquerones these guys sell are out of this world.

This product lacked that true sea taste I've come to enjoy. This product: taste vs price was no finer than any oil packed tuna on the market.
