(based on 70 ratings)
Located in: Oil/Vinegar, Olive Oil
In Italy, Carli Olive Oil has always only been sold direct from the factory to the consumer. A fleet of over 100 trucks assures prompt direct delivery to more than 700,000 families, over 120,000, of which have been loyal customers for two or more generations. Why are Italians so religious about their Olio Carli? For one, no oil from pomace or any source other than fresh ripe olives is ever used in the production of Carli Olive Oil. Secondly, although the strictest legislation allows a maximum acidity of 1% in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the maximum acidity allowed by Carli in its olive oil is 0.3%. Olio Carli has been honored frequently at national and international expositions. Embossed on the label of these fine oils, you can read the following distinctions:
1927 By Appointment to the Papacy
1937 By Appointment to the Royal Household

Comments about Olio Carli Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Large Bottle:

1. One part EVOO, one part minced garlic and chopped onion, one part butter. Heat slowly until onion is clear and fry shrimp until pink (about 90 seconds per side)Excellent Shrimp Scampii
2. Make a puddle in a bowl and add Carli Balsamic Vinegar and salad grind black pepper mix. It is an excellent dip for hot Italian bread.
3. Make a puddle in a skillet and heat a raw egg flipping the olive oil over the egg (basting)until the egg is cooked to your tastes. Very healthy method of frying an egg.

It also adds a rich "finish" right before serving a dish.

Started using this when living in Italy. Vera, an Italian woman who gave a group of military wives cooking lessons, introduced us to this oil. I was very happy to see I can still use this excellent oil for EVERYTHING! I usually order several bottles at a time so I always have a gift to give if needed. Now my mom, sister and several friends order this oil as well.

We don't cook without it. Anything that calls for oil and most of the dishes that call for butter, we substitute with Olio Carli extra virgin. We use it in my Mother's old country cooking recipes; the flavor is wonderful, and the dishes are more healthy. It is a great substitute for other flavorings such as ham hocks, bacon, and other such transfat seasonings.

Comments about Olio Carli Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Large Bottle:

when you finally get tired of oil hunting in southern Europe and realize that Italy wins the day, hands down, settle on this suprisingly well priced and solidly exciting olive oil. You won't find better value for your money, as the oil survives the ultimate test: pour some into a small dish, sprinkle with good, coarse salt and sprinkle a few drops of fresh lemon. Then dunk in some good italian bread. Nothing like it.

Comments about Olio Carli Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Large Bottle:

A friend visiting from Italy told me about this olive oil and I tried it. It's the only olive oil my family uses. Try the "Deciso" as a dipping oil for vegetables and bread. The "DOP Extra Virgin" is excellent as a finishing oil for fish.

Comments about Olio Carli Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Large Bottle:

My wife has food allergies that prclude the use of many ordinary cooking ingredients. The Chef at our club got[...] olive oil for her use, but it ceased to be imported. I discovered it was made in by [...], who began to market in the U.S. under their own name. We bought that, and then that became unavailable. This oil came from [...], and used the [...] olve almost exclusively. [...] We tried the first two, but while certainly excellent oils, they weren't to our tastes. We were going to try the last, but then read about the "everyday" Olio Carli, with its very low acidity, and tried it instead. It proved to be exactly what we wanted, even though it's primarily from Imperia, and made from various olives. Our club also uses keeps some on hand for my wife. It's not hard to understand why it's Italy's best seller.

Comments about Olio Carli Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Large Bottle:

Great Cooking Oil but be careful when used in a fry pan above 300F. It can be a bit dicey. I cook with it on medium as a saute oil but not too hot. It holds its flavor better at the lower temps. Cook no hotter than you need to finish your dishes to your liking. Mixes well with unsalted butter in the saute pan.
