A.O.C. D'Aix Mas Des Bories' private blend of 80% Salonenque with Aglandau and 20% Bouteillan with Grossanne. Very light and fruity, but flavorful. This custom blend brings body to your tastebuds, but with a light viscosity that doesn't overpower the palate or cling to the mouth. All of Mas Des Bories olive oils are bottled according to traditional Provence farming methods with native trees, producing an oil that is robust and smooth without a bitter aftertaste.

In the low Alps mountain range of France, encompassing a valley and the surrounding hillsides, Mas Des Bories is the perfect environment for the nurturing of olives. The rocky, but fertile soil, with the wild thyme, laurel, and lavender produces wonderful, fruity light golden oil, which is unique in the entire world. This year, Mas des Bories, Bouteillan, and AOC won gold Medals at Hamburg, Germany's International Olive Oil Competition. Mas Des Bories extra virgin olive oils have won Best in Show at the Los Angeles County Fair; in Avignon, France; as well as gold medals in Marseille, Paris, and Munich.

Tasted oils in France, so went online to find similar oils. My favorite in France was from the aglaundau olive. This oil is a blend using that olive.

This one sneaks up on you. It starts out smooth and rich and then hits you with a very peppery finish.

This is the most flavorful of the French olive oils that I have tasted so far.

Comments about Mas Des Bories: A.O.C. D'Aix Extra Virgin Olive Oil:

I just arrived back in the US from visiting the olive farm and met the owners of Mas Des Bories in Salon de Provence, France. What a delightful experience! We had an olive oil tasting in the Borie, and I never realized that there were so many flavors of olive oil.
This A.O.C. oil is a mixture of their oils, which has been carefully chosen. This oil is a wonderful choice as an overall favorite to use with most anything. It is very flavorful and enhances the flavors of your food.
I purchased each of their 5 flavors, of which only 3 can be purchased in the US. The owners are absolutely charming and very knowledgeable. Their olives are pressed the very day they are harvested, making the flavor more vibrant. That is one of the many reasons they have won awards from all over the world with their oils. I would highly recommend visiting their farm in you are ever in the Provence region of France!

Absolutely the best oil I've tasted so far. I never realized France produced such wonderful Olive Oil. We sauteed some blanched green beans in the oil with touch of salt and pepper and wow! Simple and delicious.
