Pumpkin seed oil is a specialty of Steiermark, or the Austrian province of Styria. This beautiful, lush province is located in the southeastern corner of Austria and borders on Hungary, Slovenia, and Italy. Styria's cuisine has, therefore, been greatly influenced by both eastern and western cultures. The Styrians are, however, a very stubborn people and hold on tenaciously to their native foods, as well. One of these is pumpkin seed oil. Pumpkins grow very well in Styria, and her people have become well versed in the pressing of oil from the seeds of these fruits. Our native extra virgin pumpkin seed oil comes from 100% pure Styrian pumpkin seeds. The seeds are dried and then pressed to release a dark green oil with a rich, nutty flavor. This oil is used in nearly every traditional Styrian meal. One taste, and you will be hooked, too.

I would expect more from such an expensive product! The oil itself is good and flavorful, but the packaging is a nightmare - it took me a while to manage opening the cap, and now it falls apart every time I open the bottle!

This is so hard to find in the United States. Had this on a trip to Austria and brought several bottles home with me, because I couldn't imagine never tasting this again. High in good fat. Used to dress salads, marinate meat, fish, and vegetables, as ice cream topping, many other uses. Anywhere a nutty flavor is appropriate. Warm toasty flavor. Can't cook with this as it breaks down with heat.

The first time we tasted this oil was in Austria. Our friend in Graz served it to us drizzeled over fresh calamata olive bread. We came home and immediately tried to find a source for this oil, so we were very pleased to find it at [...]. We found the bread at a local store and were able to exactly re-create that wonderful flavor we found in Austria. Thanks! PS- we'll be ordering more as gifts to friends too!

We followed Emeril Lagasse's Thanksgiving meal on PlanetGreen, and the first course was pumpkin soup. The soup was a big success, and the addition of pumpkin seed oil finished off the topping and presentation to the table!

During our trip to Austria we were surprised how nice food was over there. Particularly, we found steamed cabbage with smashed pumpkin and Pumpkin seed oil is a very tasty combination. Besides that we found that Pumpkin Seed Oil is light colorful and tasty by itself. Just put some on the small dish and dip your bread. This is real fun for our kids.

So glad I found it.

While visiting Austria, my wife and I had some wonderful pumpkin soup - finished with a drizzle of pumpkinseed oil. The chef was pleased to give us the recipe. I now use this oil with several of my squash soups. It is a classy and flavorful finish to the soup.

Pumpkin oil is reputed to be a very healthy oil. It also has a great nutty flavor. I like it best simply drizzled over salad greens with a sprinkling of grated parmesan and fresh ground pepper. No vinegar or other spices are necessary. The flavor and consistency of the oil are a great complement to greens.
