Fonduta is a specialty from the Aosta Valley in northwestern Italy. Made from real Fontina and other delicious ingredients, this ready-to-serve preparation comes in an easy-open can and can be heated on the stove or in the microwave. Considered to be the Italian version of Fondue, it can also be used as sauce for polenta, pasta, rice, meat and vegetables. Try it on pizza instead of mozzarella, or served cold, spread on bread, crackers, or canapés. Each box is imprinted with two easy to follow recipes, but we suggest you simply heat it up and serve it Fondue-style with crusty bread.

Perfectly smooth stinky cheese
By AllisonVerified Reviewer from Broomfield, CO on 3/30/2007
Pros:
Flavorful, Non-Perishable, Rich

This has the fragrance of stinky cheese (that's a good thing) and a lovely mild flavor. It is perfectly smooth when melted and can stand up to the abuse of being accidentally overcooked. It does not separate or become grainy, but it does have a very slight grittiness, probably from the starch that emulsifies it.

The difference between this and fondue is that fondue is wine-y in flavor. This has no wine flavor.
