It was in the year 1760 that a superior of the ancient religious order of Meaux transmitted to the Pommery family the secret recipe of their marvelous specialty “Moutarde des Chanoines, the “Abbots Mustard”. This mustard has been served at the table of the kings of France since 1632.

The Pommery family has carefully guarded the secret of this recipe. The mustard is made of natural products only, which lend to its exquisite flavor and subtle aroma. It enhances the culinary art and excites the appetite. Brillat Savarin called it the mustard for gourmets and said: “if it isn't Meaux, it isn't mustard”.

A very nice but not a superior mustard. I really dislike the "crock".

My favorite treat is a bakery bagel smothered in cream cheese, capers, smoked salmon and then a generous helping of this heavenly mustard as the final layer.

Very interesting texture. Bottle is old fashion and pretty cool. I first started to use the mustard with a turkey sandwich but end up dipping and licking off the butter knife. It's good. Mmmmm so gooooood!

I purchased this for my husband as he absolutely loves it, and we couldn't find it anywhere on a store shelf. Finally located it at [@] I'll be sure to check [@] for all my specialty cooking needs in the future. I use this product in pasta sauces; for rubs on fish, poultry, pork and beef; as well as in salad dressings and marinades. Mixed with sweet relish it makes a tasty sauce for fish instead of the usual tartar sauce.

I instantly remebered the aroma and wonderful taste from years ago. A fantastic and exciting reunion. I am finding many food combinations that excite the palate and am seeking even more. I remeber a much larger crock though. I hope that it will be offered in the larger size. Having a large crock on hand, I felt like a rich man.

This mustard is incredible. I used it over 10 yrs ago and fell in love with it. All of a sudden it was not available and my search has continued for over 10yrs until I discovered it on your web site. And yes it was worth the time searching to find it again. It has many uses: I add this to my sauces, marinades, rubs and wonderfully when you add to saut? mushrooms and wine.
