Pepper Dog first wagged his tail shortly after the company (Pepper Dog Salsa) harvested its first crop of hot peppers several years ago. He immediately made himself at home and became one of the family. Tom and Ginger Molthen initially created Pepper Dog in their home kitchen and served it to friends and family on special occasions. In fact, it was first introduced at the Molthen family annual beach trip. Over time, its fame grew and, before long, neighbors and strangers were calling to ask for more.

Pepper Dog Salsa is a mixed breed of tomatoes, peppers, cilantro, garlic and spices, blended to a smooth consistency. One of its unique features is, unlike most salsas, it is not very chunky. It is made without preservatives and gets by without some of the traditional salsa ingredients like vinegar and onions. The only difference between the mild and hot varieties is the heat. Pepper Dog is the same ol' dog, no matter how much bite he has. While Pepper Dog loves tortilla chips, he also likes being mixed with melted cheddar cheese for a tasty cheese dip. A unique mix of spices gives Pepper Dog Salsa a delicious smoky flavor, making it a great accompaniment to meat dishes such as chili, tacos, grilled chicken and hot dogs.
  • Hot and Mild varieties sold separately.

My husband and I are born and raised TEXANS and thus are snooty about our salsa! We were served Pepper Dog salsa and shocked to find its origin to be North Carolina, as it is AWESOME. This salsa is now a staple in our household. We use Pepper Dog on everything from Mexican food, to Steak, to fish, to casually mixing it up with sour cream as a dip. I used the small jars as stocking stuffers this past year at Christmas. We highly recommend this wonderful salsa.

This is the ONLY salsa that we buy. It's very addictive - every time a jar is opened, we eat the entire jar. It also helps with headaches!

After eating at just about every food establishment which serves salsa, I finally found one that I can enjoy at home that beats the taste buds off of the any salsa found at any restaurant or grocery store. I have a preference for the hot which starts off smooth and soon reminds you of the habanero pepper used to flavor that salsa. You also have to try the medium as part of any egg recipe you fancy. Thank you Pepper Dog!

Pepper Dog: The Dom Perignon of Salsas

This is the Dom Perignon of salsas. It?s unbelievable; to the point words are insufficient to describe it. What I can say is that it does not contain onions, so it?s quite smooth. The flavor is complex, with a woody/smoky undertone that complements the variable heat (mild = anyone, moderate = wow, hot = sit back and feel the tingle). It works great as a dip (you can cut it with sour cream if the mild is still to much for you) as well as a topping for everything from omelets to hamburgers.

There are so many uses for Pepper Dog Salsa. My favorite is as a brush-on marinade to grill chicken then layered on top of salad. With Nachos this salsa is a must!
