Cascina Adelaide has been a working winery with its own "cru" vineyards for over 100 years. Despite its location just below the castello of Barolo itself, it was basically unknown outside the local area until, Amabile Drocco bought the property in 1999 and began modernization. This is a super-star winery in the making as the long-held potential of Cascina Adelaide is now being realized.
Tasting notes:
A deep purple-red color, an intense bouquet of fruit and wood. It is a wine of particular power, rich with a sweet very long aftertaste.
Comments about Cascina Adelaide Barbera DOC Amabilin 2001:
I have not had a Barbera in years. It is not as strong as a cabernet, but is very close. This Barbera was well rounded and I would purchase it again.
