Ever since the New York Post ran its article on April 12, 2016 about anchovies and longevity, we have had trouble keeping these glorious anchovy fillets in stock. The Post wrote, "this oily fish is full of antioxidants, keeps cholesterol down, smoothes out the arteries and cuts down on inflammation, which is helpful in the aging process." So now people know that anchovies bring more to the table than great taste.

Only Engraulis Encrasicolus, the best anchovies, become Delicius anchovies. Nowadays, as back in the past, they are fished when the nights are deep dark (moonless) starting from March through September using a traditional fishing boat fitted with a "Lampara net", thus respecting the sea and the sea bed. Delicius selects the Mediterranean oil "olea mediterranea", a light and gentle oil that does not overshadow the taste of the anchovies, but actually accompanies and preserves their extraordinary flavor.

Delicius was founded in Parma, Italy in 1972. Ever since, it has been developing, producing and marketing preserved fish. Simplicity and freshness has always been their ethos. Delicius decided to produce close to fishing spots (in this case, just across from the Italian heel, on the coast of Albania), shortening the time between hauling in the nets and processing so they get the best quality. Delicius' care for the best catch of the day, for traditional salting and filleting practices remain typically Italian.

truly delicious (and a lascivious replacement for salt in recipes!)
"Delicius" is a good name for these anchovies...they certainly are, and eggs fried in that marvelously flavorful oil that the fish comes packed in is a special treat too!

Excellent
Love these anchovies, especially when they are on sale. Use them as appetizers (baguette and butter), in salads, sauce, and of course, on pizzas. Very fresh tasting and not over salty.

Anchovies at their best
For a Sicilian, eating anchovies is as natural as breathing air. These anchovies are th best I've ever eaten. I ordered another 12 on the spot. The tray is convenient as well. Buy them, you won't regret doing so.

My New Necessity
I've come to love these anchovies, both for their flavor and their packaging. They have a nice mellow flavor -- strong enough to fill the anchovy flavor spot, but not as harsh and salty as many. And the packaging is wonderful -- a reclosable clamshell that lets you easily pick out one or two anchovies and re-seal the "tin" afterward.

Delicious
Most Anchovy Fillets are really salty, but these have the right balance of Oil and salt. This brand is one of the best here and in Italy

Tasty treat
Great addition to pizza baked at home. Very flavorful, better than the usual supermarket canned variety.

Tasty Fish Appetizers
Just opened a pkg.of anchovies to add to a Caesar salad. Very tasty and added nice flavor. Mild and not as salty as some but easier to eat.
