Marzipan is a classic European sweet made from 2 ingredients - pure sugar and the finest almonds. Some say marzipan originated in Italy several centuries ago during a major drought, when the only substantial crop to survive was the almond crop. People found all kinds of ways to prepare almonds; marzipan was created.

Germans adopted this recipe and created the finest marzipan in Lubeck using the best Mediterranean almonds, sugar, and the precise roasting temperature. This marzipan is made according to the original Lubecker method to create a sweet, pliable mixture shaped in the traditional shapes of apples and oranges. A perfect holiday treat.

Great Experience
I was looking for the Harry and David marzipan I have every year, but I had trouble finding it. This turned out to be a great substitute! I barely noticed the difference.

Assorted Marzipan Fruit - 9 Piece review
This is my first experience with marzipan fruit so I cannot offer any broad or experienced comparison. The candy was nicely decorated (the photo was accurate as to appearance), and more importantly was fresh, soft and chewy. The price seemed reasonable. FYI, the box is 5" x 5", so you can estimate portion size. The "fruit" in my box (as in the photo) included apple, orange, lemon and strawberry shapes. It was a novel treat. -- RDB

Very tasty
This is a good Marzipan. A little pricey (they come out to a buck a piece) and the ingredients are not just sugar and almonds (there is corn syrup in there) so thats a bit misleading, but the taste and texture is good.

Better than Bergen, but not as good as other I gourmet options
I loved the strawberry, but I don't care for the other flavors. This production is much better than the Bergen version, but it is too sweet for my taste. Too sugary. It would be better with a higher almond content and I would only get it again if there were all strawberry and then I would probably order something else.

Although the marzipan arrived auickly (the day after the order was placed), it was stale. Since one of the most important things for the enjoyment of marzipan is freshness, I could not give this item a good rating, nor could I recommend it.
