Made in Monroe, Wisconsin, Beer Kaese is a robust and pungent American classic with a German/Swiss pedigree. Containing no beer, this cheese was registered in 1933 as a celebratory salute to the repeal of Prohibition, hence the name "Beer" Kaese. The unique flavor of Beer Kaese comes from aging. It is shelf-cured, resulting in an aromatic, golden yellow rind. Beer Kaese has an earthy, slightly tangy, full-bodied flavor which makes it an excellent pairing with rye or pumpernickel bread and a slice of onion with a glass of red wine or, preferably, beer. Alternatively, try this cheese served for dessert with a glass of port. This is a great cheese for fans of Limburger, Brick, or Liederkranz.

wow, this cheese can divide a family more than Republicans and Democrats. I liked it and my fiancee and her daughter gagged at the smell alone. They are making me sleep downstairs. The good news is if you have gas no one will notice!

This cheese may have a stinky smell, but it is so good & tasty..I would recommend it to cheese lovers everywhere........

not too bad
This is my first try at this one. A nice strong smell not to over powering.Has a bit much of a twang for me but not where you cant eat it.

the best cheese ever.........
I have been looking for this cheese & finally found it with IGourmet......if you haven't tried it, you should......It has a stinky smell, but the taste is so good.........

my son was craving for this cheese, but couldn't find it where he lives.....he was so surprised to receive it in the mail from me......he loves it! You made his day.........now the limburger cheese that he also received is his favorite.......thankyou once again igourmet...........

Great with a Scotch ale, too
Nice all around cheese. Won't put off a newcomer and has enough complexity for a cheeser. Didn't get to open the 20 year old Tawny, but maybe next year.

Beer Kaese
Smooth and creamy with great tangy flavor with a long finish. Delicious with an apple or pickled herring and rye bread.
